CERN Accelerating science

Andrea Paz Rodriguez Delherbe

I have always thought that you can realize all of your dreams just being perseverant; Grades are not everything in the academic world. I always felt kinda small next to other really smart people... but I realized that if I want something and I keep on fighting for it, even if I get a no as answer the first times, I can make it!

I live in a port city, Valparaiso, in Chile. I'm on my last year of Engineering in Informatics. I started working as an extern undergraduate student in the ATLAS collaboration between the Scientific and Technological Center of Valparaiso (CCTVal) and ATLAS experiment for data analysis, after a few months I became a thesis student in that collaboration. This is how I started to know more about CERN, but this just from the outside. Once I became a summer student and arrived to CERN for the first time, I couldn't believe how wonderful the people was going to be; everyone is always willing to help you with anything, the work environment is awesome! Everyone loves their jobs, there are a lot of social activities and spaces where you can meet people and hang out. You can play sports, board games, create a club of whatever you want.

There's so much to do! So much to learn! So many people to meet! Everyday is really exciting.

I will never forget this experience and I will keep it on my heart forever.
